The vision starts to be implemented
Kick-off meeting of the European Network of Excellence for Nanobiotechnology (N2L)

Autrans, France, Jan 20th, 2004. On February 2nd-5th 2004, the first official meeting of researchers from 12 European countries will take place in Autrans, France to start the first European Network of Excellence in Nanobiotechnology. During the next four years, about 230 biologists, chemists, physicists and engineers will intensively collaborate in research, technology development and education.

The joint vision is to establish a virtual European Institute for Nanobiotechnology. The core of the Joint Program of Activities is interdisciplinary research in nanomedicine, for innovative biochips, intelligent biomaterials, analytic methods, nanofluidic and drug delivery systems. Research will be accompanied by studies concerning ethical aspects, expected economical potential of new developments and intellectual property right matters. The N2L training program and specialised offers for industrial staff support the strategic goal of N2L, i.e. to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in nanobiotechnological research for innovation. You are welcome to contact N2L and to visit the website http://www.nano2life.net.

Nano2Life is funded by the 6th Framework Program of the European Commission with a budget of 8.8 M€ over 4 years.
